<p><strong>Use:</strong><br> This test is used to detect bacterial pathogenic organisms in the stool;<br> It will aid in the diagnosis of typhoid fever, enteric fever, bacillary dysentery, and/or Salmonella infection.</p> <p>Indications for stool culture include one or several of the following symptoms; bloody diarrhea, fever, recent travel to a third world country with stool changes, and know exposure to a diarrheal illness or food borne illness.</p> <p><strong>Recommended For:</strong><br> Diagnosing gastrointestinal infection.</p> <p><strong>Special Notes:</strong><br> First sample of day to be collected. No special preparation is necessary prior to stool sample collection.</p> <p><strong>Tests Included:</strong><br> Stool Culture - TC - 10108<br> Culture<br> Isolation and identification (at an additional charge) of Salmonella, Shigella, and Campylobacter, and detection of enterohemorrhagic E coli (EHEC) Shiga toxin by EIA.</p> <p>If culture results warrant, susceptibility testing (additional charges/CPT code[s] may apply) may be performed.</p> <p>CPT coding for microbiology and virology procedures often cannot be determined before the culture is performed.</p> <p>Requests with only a written order and no test number indicated will be processed according to Default Testing for Routine Microbiology.</p> <p><strong>Estimated Turn Around For Results:</strong><br> 2-10 Business Days<br> <em>For an exact turnaround time for results, please contact us at Personalabs and we will contact the lab on your behalf as turnaround times vary depending on testing location or lab testing provider.</em></p>
